There are things that fade as we get older. One of the things I remember as a child was always wanting the next day to be a snow day. It had nothing to do with playing in the snow, and everything to do with the excitement of not having school. However, as I’ve gotten older snow days have become messy. In part because it means changing my schedule which I’m not a big fan of. It’s also because part of the reason for snow days is that they’re dangerous. People shouldn’t be on the roads. This leads to accidents, it also means sometimes exposure issues. Either way something so innocent has become something hazardous. I don’t know how to feel about the somewhat pessimistic approach to snow, but for now I’ve lost that childhood smile at snow.
